To help make Glass City Con 4 a success, we need your help! If you want to lend a hand please let us know!
Volunteers
Want to help run GarasuNoShiCon, but can’t spend the money renting an apartment in Toledo just so you can be there to help plan it all out? No problem! We gladly accept assistance from our attendees.
Volunteers will receive a nifty volunteer badge, thegreatest honor one can ever receive, nudging out the Nobel Peace Prize. We also have a Volunteer Rewards program, where hard-working volunteers earn special privileges and rewards, like free food, merchandise, and prizes!
We have the following positions open:
Gophers
Gophers run stuff around the convention, like schedules, DVDs for the viewing rooms, and Big Uncle Fuku’s purchases (you’ll have to have mastered Physique to qualify for this one). We’ll also send you out to find people should our fancy technology fail to rouse anyone.
Gophers might also be tasked with many other positions, like collecting money, crowd control for events, setup/teardown, assisting vendors, and any number of other tasks. If there's anything you're not comfortable doing, let the person assigning you know!
Door Monitors
Certain areas and events require badges and/or crowd control. Help keep the con under control by keeping these areas secure!
Screening Room Monitors
Screening Room Monitors keep an eye on video rooms, making sure the anime is running, running correctly, and not in the pocket of someone running away with the anime. You’ll also be required to watch the anime, a task that is no doubt going to require all of your will to endure.
Video Game Room Monitors
Video Game Room Monitors function in much the same way Screening Room Monitors do, but work in the Video Game Room. Their primary job is keeping an eye on the systems, games, and controllers (particularly the wireless ones) and make sure they don't leave the room. Video Game Room Monitors will also keep an eye on checked bags and help the Video Game Room Attendant when needed.
We're pretty flexible when it comes to work schedules, but when you sign up for a shift, please be sure to show up. It’s not like you have to work when you’re assigned, but what’s the point of volunteering if you’re just going to leave us hanging? If you don’t intend on working, don’t volunteer. We’ve got enough to worry about without jerks who sign up for some sick thrills.
Obviously, things come up, so if you can’t make your obligation, just drop us a line and we’ll take you off the list.
Volunteer slots are available at a first come, first served basis. When you get to Glass City Con, go to the Con Op room (I know it’ll be difficult to ignore all of those vendors, but you must endure for the greater good) and sign in. We accept volunteers up until the time we need them, so if you decide to get your good deed for the day out of the way when you arrive, come on down to Con Op and we’ll see where we can work you in. Obviously, the earlier you sign in, the better.
To sign up, send the following information to owensanimecon@aol.com:
